Project
From Mealhada to DaKar
Next January 5th 2008 the caravan of the all-terrain event that will bind Lisbon to Dakar, with ending, more necessary, in the edges of Lake Rose, carrying on its bulge the unfastening of that ones that love challenges to record memories. Is known the media visibility that this kind of race acquired, in such way that, a lot of time before beginning, is “flash light” in press, radio and TV.
Touched by the challenging hardness of this race, that will pass on landscapes of rare beauty, on places of hard texture, four long time friends living in Mealhada (Portugal) – Victor Moniz, Alda Teixeira, Pedro Campos and Luís Gamelas – they had thought for good to be joined for driving two cars that had given accurate proof of fiability and follow the serpent of the Lisbon – Dakar rally (side by side where it will be possible) and feel the emotions of been in territories of peculiar and respectable cultures.
Driving a 1973 Toyota Corolla 1200 car and a 1978 Toyota Corolla Station Wagon with all the affection that the old age of cars recommend, they think as possible to touch the target they proposed to themselves: reach the edges of Lake Rose in Dakar – Senegal at the same time than pilots, cars, trucks and motos of the rally.
To increase this challenge, build solid financial support is necessary, and that is not quickly reachable by the four adventurers. So they need to find, on other people’s sensibility, the capacity for that. And for people not to think that this project is a personal whim of themselves, they think for good to join to a Non Governmental Organization for Social Solidarity – A.D. R.A. / A.S.A. located in Vacariça – Mealhada/ Portugal in way to bring to this solidarity corporation the excedent beneficts in way to be distributed on poor families, living in Mealhada and beeing supported by that organization. This partnership is named “Mealhada Solidarity”, whose project of proposes can be consulted on attached document.
The four friends understood that would be important the building of an internet page – and they did it – and gave it the suggestive name of www.toyota73lisboadakar.com to which all the community can get access to be informed on the purposes of the project, on the identities of pilots and companions, on support messages, and entities that supported this project of travel and on the all merchandising, items that will be often up-to-dated. It is obvious the global projection of an internet site.
Conscious that the visualization of cars is also a vehicle of advertising promotion, they programmed public exhibitions of them, on great visual impact locals, that will happen being the advertising spaces available on cars, already filled out. Spaces, prices and sizes will be consulted on attached chart.
The four adventurers are thinking that only with real involvement of the several contacted entities will be possible make solid the “one life travel” dream, the happiness of some social problems solved and the global promotion of the project.
